Local roads connect Kachemak to the Sterling Highway. Nearby Homer has an airport, harbor/dock, and state ferry access. Kachemak City's roads are all public access roads that are maintained by the State or by neighborhood associations. The city does subsidize maintenance and improvement of privately maintained roads by partially reimbursing the neighborhood associations, on a matching grant basis, for work they accomplish.
